Fragrance composition

Aldehydes, ylang-ylang, neroli and citrus fruits come into play at the beginning. Then the delicate notes of rose, lily of the valley and jasmine come to the fore. The base notes are amber, vanilla and warming sandalwood as well as oriental patchouli.

History of fragrance

The Eau de Parfum for women Chanel N°5 was first introduced in 1921 by the fashion designer Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Gabrielle wanted the fragrance to reflect her memories of her childhood in Aubazine, France. The chemist Ernest Beaux succeeded in creating several samples. Gabrielle liked the example from the 5th series the most. This is how the legendary fragrance got its name. The first 100 bottles were a gift for the fashion designer’s best customers and the fragrance was then also sold in the Chanel boutique.
